The Telugu people or Telugus are an ethnic group of India. The people of Andhra Pradesh are the native speakers of the Telugu language. It is one of the 22 languages of India and is the most commonly spoken language after Hindi and Bengali. A significant population in Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Orissa also speak Telugu language.

It is a Dravidian language written in a Telugu script and adapted from the Bhattiprolu script. The language has Hindu and Muslim influences.
